Adventures in Color Mixing

Learning to color mix is a big part of learning to be a painter. But with all those tubes of paints, it can feel overwhelming to know what to mix and how.

We all learned the primary colors back in kindergarten. And we learned to mix them to make secondary colors. But if you do this with a basic primary mix, you often get ugly. In this workshop you’ll learn about how different primary mixes work and what kind of secondary colors they make, What are Modern colors and what are Mineral colors and how do they act differently in our paintings. We’ll make some color wheels and learn to make some of our favorite colors. This class will save you money and space, cause you won’t need to buy every color under the sun, you will know how to make them! And even though it’s science and analyzing stuff – we’ll keep it fun and still learn a lot! Note: you will be asked to buy a Golden Fluids color mixing set which runs about $52 from Dick Blick
