Classes for Fiber Artists
This is a sampling of my most popular classes. There are many more! Or I can custom design a class for your group within my skillset. Drop me an e-mail and we can start the conversation! All classes include extensive handouts and most require a supply fee for the extensive supplies provided.
Acrylics Meet Fibers
In this class we use Jacqueline's most popular acrylic techniques as surface design on fabric. Students will learn to use Gesso, Molding Paste, Tissue and more on a fabric ground to build layers and textures. The texture developed with these tools will then be highlighted with metallic media. Finished products make great Art Quilts, Table Runners, and embellishments on other handmade items. Preserving the hand of the fabric, washability and stability of the fabric will be discussed in class.
Dyed Silk Scarves with Wax Resist
Everyone loves a beautiful scarf! Come to this class and learn to design your own silk scarves using wax resist and procion dyes. Students will use hot wax to make abstract patterns on the silk and then “fill in” their designs with vibrant colored dyes. Each student will receive 4, 8 MM 14” x 72” Habotai Silk Scarves. Extra scarves to dye paint will be available for sale for approx. $10. Ea. Students will work in pairs, taking turns, stretching and designing scarves. The scarves will be wet when taken home and students will have written instructions for rinsing and care after the scarves “rest” for at least 24 hours.
